Learning Upgrade recently added new tools in the LMS to help teachers track class progress and set learning goals. These updates introduce new ways to view students and provide a simple system for creating and monitoring class goals.
This guide walks through the new features so teachers can quickly understand how they work.
1. Introducing the New View Options
In the Classes tab, teachers will notice a new view dropdown menu. Previously, the LMS only displayed students in a table format. Now teachers can choose between three views:
List View (Default Original View)
Tile View
Progress View
Each view serves a different purpose.
– List View (Default)
List view remains the default layout and works exactly like the previous LMS version.
Teachers can see the same information as before, including:
Student names
Courses
Enrolled and Last Played Date
Student actions buttons
This view is ideal for teachers who prefer a spreadsheet-style layout for managing student data.
– Tile View
Tile view displays students as individual cards instead of rows in a table.
This layout makes student information easier to see at a glance. Each card highlights key details about the student and their progress.
Teachers often prefer tile view when they want student information to be more visual and easier to scan.
– Progress View
Progress view is where teachers can create and track class goals.
This view focuses on progress tracking rather than individual student management. Teachers can define learning targets and monitor how the class is progressing toward those goals. We will dive deeper into progress view below.
2. A Deeper Dive on Progress View and Student Goals
The Progress View is where teachers create and manage goals for their classes.
To create a goal, the class must already contain students.
Creating a Class Goal
From Progress View, click the Create Your First Goal button.
Teachers will then configure the goal by entering the following information:
Goal Name
Give the goal a clear title.Term Duration
Define the timeframe for the goal.Start and End Dates
Set the time period for tracking progress.Course Selection
Choose which courses the goal applies to:All Courses
English
Math
Goal Type
Select how progress should be measured:Lessons per term
Lessons per week
Hours per term
Minutes per week
Goal Value
Enter the target amount based on the selected goal type.
After entering the goal details, click Save Goal.
Goal Progress Dashboard
Once a goal is created, teachers can view a goal progress dashboard that tracks how the class is performing.
This dashboard includes several key metrics.
Active vs Inactive Students
This section shows how many students are actively working toward the goal compared to those who have not recently logged in or made progress.
Certificates Earned
Teachers can quickly see how many course certificates students have earned during the goal period.
Weekly Progress Timeline
This timeline shows how much progress the class is making week by week during the goal period.
Weekly Student Status Distribution
A histogram displays how students are progressing relative to the goal.
This helps teachers quickly identify students who are:
On track
Ahead of schedule
Falling behind
Student Progress Details
The Student Progress Details table shows individual student progress toward the goal.
Teachers can open a Student Calendar to see the weekly assignments that help a student stay on track.
Teacher Weekly Calendar
Teachers can also open a Weekly Calendar view that shows which lessons students should complete each week to meet the class goal.
This helps teachers guide students and keep everyone on pace.
3. Updates to the Student Portal Login
Many students access Learning Upgrade directly through the app or a web browser.
We have introduced a new student portal login that allows students to see the goals set by their teacher.
From this portal, students can view their own personal progress dashboard.
This dashboard includes the same key information teachers see, including:
Goal progress
Weekly progress tracking
Lessons completed
Certificates earned
This gives students a clear view of their learning targets and helps them stay motivated as they work toward completing their goals.
Start Using Class Goals Today
The new view options, goal tracking tools, and student dashboard make it easier for teachers and students to stay focused on progress.
Teachers can now:
Set clear learning goals for their classes
Monitor progress with visual dashboards
Identify students who may need additional support
Help students stay on track week by week
To begin using these features, open the Classes tab, switch to Progress View, and create your first class goal.
