How Your Ideas Becomes Our New Features
Learning Upgrade’s new goals feature came to life as a result of collecting feedback from teachers and administrators in countries around the world over the past several years. Our team gathers information from a variety of sources: in person at conferences, Zoom meetings, phone calls, emails, and social media. Some key themes that emerged include:
- Teachers want to see which students are on track, behind, and not started
- Student want to easily see their progress towards an assigned goal
- Parents want to know whether their children are on track in school
- Administrators want to ensure that every student learns the assigned curriculum
From this base of feedback, we created the new goals feature. When creating a new class, teachers set a goal of completing a course in a set number of weeks. So for example, a 60 lesson course to be completed in 12 weeks requires students to complete 5 lessons per week.
Teachers can then assign courses to students or have them take a placement test. Then, they can create custom calendars for each student with their assigned lessons for the entire term. This ensures that students and parents know what is expected. Also, this drives time-on-task at home using smartphones and computers.
In the Student Portal, students are able to see their assigned lessons and whether they are on track or behind schedule.
Finally, teachers can view a goal dashboard with a variety of graphical views that show how their students are progressing: who is on track, behind, or not started.
Thanks to feedback from our amazing community of educators, we now have a system that supports teachers as they move a class through a comprehensive curriculum.
